Ornamental Fish
Naturally occurring ornamental fish are abundant on offshore platforms where they inhabit the upper portion of the underwater substructure. About 20 species of obligatory reef and cryptic species have been observed there. EcoRigs SCUBA divers harvest these species from the jackets of the platforms in a sustainable manner. Ornamentals are free to swim around the platform habitat, exhibit strong site-fidelity and feed on drifting plankton or graze on organisms that thrive on the platform substrate. Thus, it is unnecessary to add fish feed into the system to sustain them.
