Marine Invertebrates

Marine invertebrates grow naturally on the underwater jackets of the platform. Many of these organisms are the same species sold commercially worldwide in the ornamental aquarium trade. Unfortunately, natural coral reefs are often damaged to meet the needs of this global market. Our platform invertebrates are harvested by SCUBA divers that cut and scrape pieces of invertebrate colonies from the pilings and cross members in a sustainable manner. Imported organisms typically experience a 50% mortality during harvest and transport. Specimens harvested from homegrown platforms such as ours are known to experience only 5% mortality during harvest and transport to shore.
